Unsurprising given Lula position leaning towards Moscow.

I don't why leftist goverments think that a proPutin or neutral view in this war is ok.
I don't think it is so much leftist governments since there are plenty who are pro-ukraine and providing military support. Rather there are some misguided ones who are anti what they would class as imperialist/colonial (e.g. USA, UK etc) and then play into the theme of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" style thinking. It isn't quite that clear cut/strong but I hope you get what I mean. You see it is Africa too. The likes of Russian/Chinese propaganda plays a part as well.

Putin's body double goes out and meets the crowd. If there's an assassination attempt, the FSB lets it succeed. The FSB gets the killer and the real Putin gets out of dodge, Hague free.
OR the FSB lets the attempt succeed and the FSB offs the real Putin and they replace him. No Hague involved.

Yes, that was I just what I want to mean

She is obviously there to help bring attention to a serious issue that will have to be addressed in the future - that of the environmental consequences of the war and what will be required in the future. I know some people feel threatened by her but she is well recognised globally for her environmental activism which helps bring appropriate focus to this issue. Comments such as those above are just pathetic.
Than where was she during the Syrian war or the ongoing conflicts in Africa (including the cobalt mining that's an environmental disaster)?

She is nothing more than a tool: she has no formal education in any of the fields she's representing.

Appearing in the Ukraine is just convenient for photo opportunities - Ukrainians need help all across the board (food, medicine, clothing and military gear), not loud children.
Save that for later.

If someone is about to lose a war and die, does the "environment" mean a lot to them?

If you're laying land mines in your own country, what difference does it matter? Surely a nation needn't concern itself with what HRW think?
I have no doubts at all that the AFU will be far more circumspect about who, what and where they target. Ukraine tries to preserve the lives of its citizens. Russian leadership, however, has shown extreme disregard for life, human or Russian.

And you can bet your life that Ukraine has mapped those minefields so they can clear them safely after the Russians are gone.
No, many land mines are artillery fired and will be time consuming to find.

When the war is over essentially the entirely of the Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Luhansk and Crimea oblasts will need to be divided into grids and searched and de-mined square meter by square meter.

Quite frankly, while I'm onboard with changing how we address ecology, my joke was aimed more at the goddamned sanctimony. "Threatened"? No, and trying to impute that to me is laughable.

I was pretty aware of the issue long before little Greta came along, and didn't need her preachments to alert me to the issue, thankyouverymuch.

I'm getting ready to to go to bed, but to address the first point in this video, that China wants to split the West, and that this may be a benefit, I'm thinking that horse has done left the barn. This war has drawn the West closer, and has seen NATO gain one member and have another on the doorstep.

I'd also argue that the West is probably more prepared to be united against a Chinese move against Taiwan.

I'll watch the rest tomorrow and reply once I've done that.
