I'm looking forward to news of a UAF fighter's first air to air shot down of a Russian fighter over Russia.
Likewise -- but even moreso I'm hoping UAF can achieve air superiority such that it allows the fresh fighters to transition to CAS/BAI. It'll be a hard push, no doubt, but there's a reason the new missile arrivals are targeting airfields and SAM sites, I think. I know that's what I'd do. Shape the battlespace and preset the conditions, and then look forward to that last shootdown.
Sweden has offered to supply JAS 39 Gripen to Ukraine (and they want them!) but AFAIK our NATO allies (damn, that felt good to say!) have asked us to wait while they get the F-16's up and running. So Sweden will instead supply two ASC 890 AWACS to supplement the F-16's. The radar range on the ASC 890 is circa 350-450 km and they are equipped with the Link 16 data link. So the F-16's can operate radar silent and get targeting data for their AMRAAM's (Swedish supplied R99) via the AWACS and the first inkling any Sukhoi will get that anything is up will be when the AMRAAM's on-board targeting radar lights them up by which time it's curtains for them. And Sweden has placed no caveats at all about how any of the systems supplied shall be used. So aircraft on any side of the border can be targeted.
Having y'all and the Finns on the team is great.
I think it's great having the founder of the "f**k around and find out" club (Finland) in NATO, now.

That sounds like a powerful combination, lets hope that it works as well in practiceSweden has offered to supply JAS 39 Gripen to Ukraine (and they want them!) but AFAIK our NATO allies (damn, that felt good to say!) have asked us to wait while they get the F-16's up and running. Is this needed because they can't get crews willing to get in the tanks anymore...View attachment 782638
