Hopefully with a now steady(er) supply of western arms, the coming arrival of AWACS-directed F-16 gaining (limited) aerial superiority, and a growing number of Patriot and other anti-air battery systems, the days of Russia taking more territory are coming to a close. It's perhaps the end of the beginning, as Churchill famously said.

But what of Ukraine's ability to liberate its territory, including Crimea? It would seem to be that by the end of 2024 Ukraine won't be lacking the kit to accomplish this, but will be lacking the manpower. Perhaps allowing hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian men to flee the country in 2022 was not wise - and now it's time to ask for them to return. If 2024 is about regaining the initiative, 2025-2026 has to be about pushing Russia out of all of Ukraine. They'll need a million man/women army to accomplish this.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a declaration on Thursday ordering a general military mobilization and prohibiting male citizens between the ages of 18 and 60 from leaving Ukraine.

I don't believe this story is anything more than speculation driven by Rheinmetall's recent showing of the SkyRanger 35 on a Leopard 2 hull (see below). I have seen nothing about this on a Leopard 1 hull or its acquisition by Ukraine and in fact the story is very vague.
