True enough, Syria is a bad example. But kicking Turkey out of NATO or otherwise forcing their on new members may have unintended consequences.

I tend to think it would drive Turkey closer to Russia (remember, Russia was long an enemy of the predecessor state to Turkey, the Ottoman Empire) and to extremist elements. There's precedent for unpleasant regimes to remain in NATO: Greece, under the colonels, and Portugal was brought in while it was a military dictatorship. One difference is, of course, that Turkey is being neutral with respect to Russia (and may be clandestinely supportive were Russia to invade Armenia) regarding its invasion of a sovereign country within Europe.

Turkey isn't the only member whose actions are questionable with respect to the invasion of Ukraine. See, for example, Hungary blocking release of €500 million in EU military aid to Ukraine

One of the more bizarre excuses for not sending the Abrams to Ukraine was that they need "jet fuel" to run.

This is utter crap. Yes, the AGT-1500 will cheerfully run on jet fuel (Jet-A, Jet-A1, Jet-B, JP-4, JP-5, JP-8, and whatever), but it will also run nicely on road diesel, home heating oil or, for that matter, gasoline. Gas turbine engines are much less fussy about fuel than those engines that rely on pistons banging back and forth. Basically, if a truck diesel or tank diesel can burn it, so can the AGT-1500.
I remember way back when, a camp counselor said of the Chrysler turbine car "you can pee in the tank and it'll go". Could the AGT-1500 could run on ordinary, run of the mill, hardware store type kerosene?

Funny how the obstructionist NATO states about aiding Ukraine seem to be the ones ruled by charter members of the Strongman Club, isn't it? Suppose they're feeling existential angst being surrounded by democracies and secretly sympathize with Uncle Vlad?
