I expect those who manufacture and repair the Leopard 2 in Europe replied, "challenge accepted" and began swapping out parts and getting to work. The original manufacturer KNDS and ISO probably sent over their catalogue and said, go shopping.

''...The sorties continue, the team saying they hold the record for the most Vampire flights in one night of 24. But their target now is Russia itself, a powerful symbol of Kyiv's decision to take the fight back to Moscow, and the new, dangerous escalatory turns this conflict is taking in its third year.''

Zelenskyy has a point here. The US and its allies shoot down missiles approaching Israel, but won't do the same against missiles over Ukraine. It's not a huge escalation if NATO missiles fired from either NATO borders or Ukraine intercept missiles over Ukraine-held territory.

A missile fired into Ukraine to engage a Russian asset from a NATO nation would be no different than a NATO fighter flying over Ukraine to shoot down Russian aircraft.
Killing a Russian pilot is not the same as shooting down a unmanned Russian drone or missile over Kyiv. You see no difference?

IMO, if Ukraine asks NATO to launch missiles over Ukraine-held territory to shoot down Russian, Chinese, Iranian, or whatever drones and missiles flying over Ukraine, it doesn't matter what Russia or other countries have to say.

NEAR VOVCHANSK, Ukraine, May 21 (Reuters) - Ukrainian servicemen operating a howitzer in Kharkiv region near the Russian border work around the clock to stop an incursion by Moscow's troops, and they are finally getting the shells to do it.

Ukraine's defenders were hamstrung for months by shortages of artillery shells and other weapons as U.S. Congress held up billions of dollars worth of military aid. As the lawmakers in Washington argued, Russia's forces pressed their advantage on the frontlines, pushing forward on the eastern front.

First good news in a while.

Both, however, are acts of war.

Agreed. I have to assume that global production of NATO-spec 155mm has never been higher now. Even during the height of the Korean, Vietnam and Cold War there were likely lulls in production as stocks were replenished. Heck, even defence laggards like Canada are ramping up production to a, um... roaring 5,000 shells per month.
