Empty seats in the mess,,Charles Durning vet of the first wave ,,Normandy ,this morning
 
Two uncles killed on Iwo and Okinawa and a third Navy Vet Chicago fireman died 15 years ago. My most sincere sympathy to you on your and our loss

These threads are difficult for me, I certainly feel for, and respect all the old vets, my own father passed away early last year. He was beyond a normal WW2 vet, having served in the Merchant Marine and then in the U.S.Navy. It is just difficult for me at this time, but make no mistake, I honor all the men that served in WW2!
