Kind of a fun post.
A look at the song Stardust.
Originally written and performed by Hogy Carmichael, it was an instrumental in 1927.
The lyrics were written in 1929 by Mitchell Parish.
The first version is the original, the second is Louie Armstrong's 1931 version that includes the lyrics (probably one of the first recordings to do so) and the last is my favourite version, by Pete Fountain, recorded in 1963.
Finding the Pete Fountain version is kinda hard and I learned it from a late night Canadian movie show, so I used the bumper for that show, to show that example. Apologies for all the commercials that lead that version...

I know that supposedly only 5% of Americans listen to Jazz. I'm hooked on 1960's-1950's jazz in particular, but also listen to everything jazz, including a lot of the very modern stuff. At the moment, my favorite is Bill Evan's Empathy . Two newer all-time favorites are Charlie Haden, Keith Jarret's 2010 Jasmine, and Ahmad Jamal's 2011 Blue Moon.
