Just to show how massive a Persian Carpet could be, here you see a 725x441 cm Carpet woven in 1902 at Mashhad. I stood at a 10.5 meters distance and no zoom.

Yes! As these type of rugs / carpets are woven by Persian knotes, they can be used another at least 100 years, if be cared enough.

Thanks for that, an intriguing side bar to the war. It's funny how things worked out like that, I remember from living in Scotland, there are fish and chip stores there with Italian names and it always puzzled me what the Italian connection to fish and chips was, until I found out that there were POW camps in Scotland with Italians in them during the war and afterwards some chose to stay and their descendants are still alive and well running chippies across the land...
