Thanks Vic.
Still trying to get past the automated voice "service" at Evri, the cr@p courier service who used to be the excellent Hermes courier service.
Jeff in the 'States is also trying at his end (still Hermes there), so I'm hoping one of us can get a sensible answer after the New Year holiday.

Anyway, I managed to get the tanker unit sprayed - eventually.
Started preparing around 20.00 hrs, and ran into problems with a blocked jet in my airbrush, a bit strange as it was stripped down and thoroughly cleaned after spraying the tractor unit. Couldn't change over to a different jet and needle, as the blocked jet was firmly wedged into the nozzle !
Finally freed things, changed jet and needle, leaving the blocked jet soaking in thinners, and finished the spraying just 5 minutes before the end of 2023 !!
I think I've managed to get a close match to the shade used on the tractor unit, and can compare them alongside each other once the paint dries.

I'll post some pics ;later today.

Checked the paint shade against the tractor unit, and decided to give it a "blow over" of a lighter shade.
Although it was a more than acceptable shade of Olive Drab, it was darker, with a noticeable contrast between the two units.
I'll post pics when the tanker is dry enough to move, sometime later today.
Paints used were Revell "Gelb Oliv", mixed with Humbrol Mid Stone and some Humbrol Yellow, all enamels paints. It seems that the Humbrol Khaki Drab is discontinued, although their Olive Drab is still listed, so I would have been unable to obtain tjhe required match anyway.

Back later with another up-date, and thanks again for the comments and "likes" etc ...........

Fixed it.

Oh, look ! A tree camouflaged as a man !!!
And it's forgotten at least one of the four "S's" - lots of shine there !

Anyway, pics below show the results of the tanker unit paint sessions. I got the lighting angles wrong for the photos, making the green on the tractor look "brighter" than it actually is.
The tank unit is still a little darker than I would have liked, but this will probably change slightly once the gloss and matt clear coats have been applied, and I think the contrast will be acceptable, especially after some weathering and grime has been added to the tanker unit.

I'll let this fully dry for a few hours, and then start on the first stage of weathering and grime, before applying a clear gloss coat, ready for the decals.
I probably won't be able to post any progress pics until tomorrow, depending on paint and varnish drying times, so meanwhile, I'll be looking at, and planning how to convert some 1/72nd scale truck parts into 1/48th scale cargo and oil tanker trailers ............

Thanks Andy, and Happy New Year to you and the family.

Just applied a second gloss coat to the tanker unit, and hope to start on the decals later today.

Got all the decals on the tanker unit, although those on the rear doors will be done later, as I need to check on sizing and spacing across the four separate door sections.

The "U S Army ......", the front "No Smoking" and the serial number are from the Tamiya kit, with the numerals cut and re-arranged for the serial number, and a "W" added in front of the numbers, from the Railtec sheets. (the "W" indicated Tanker.). The stars are also from the Tamiya kit.
The "Gasoline", rear "No Smoking" and the "04" fleet number were made up from two sizes of individual characters from the Railtec sheets, a slightly fiiddly and time-consuming job.
Unfortunately, the "Gasoline" on the left-hand side has a slight (unintentional) slope on it (Oops ! A well-known TV car show presenter got fired for saying something similar !!). Hopefully, this won't be too noticeable in the overall diorama "scene" though.

I'll let the decals set overnight, and then spray a matt clear coat, before adding some grime and general "wear & tear", and then fit the wheels and do the detail work, such as tail lights, reflectors etc.

Back sometime tomorrow ...............

Thanks chaps.

The tanker has had some variation in tone, and staining added, along with the first stages of grime and mud splashes etc.
I think I got the matt clear coat a bit "heavy" though, particularly on the left-hand side, no doubt due to spraying in relatively poor lighting conditions, with my own shadow adding to the problem, and also a rather thin mix.
But I'll let this settle, then review things in daylight and / or under my desk lamps, and rectify it as needed.
