It's apparent he wasn't paying attention when his CFI taught him to "go around"! Some people and their kids.

He would have been better off from the water if it weren't for wind direction. Up in the left corner is a red and white striped windsock, looks like he had a pretty good head wind as well. Nonetheless, a pretty risky place to land. There is such a thing as MCAS, and he wasn't in it on his approach! He was wobbeling a little on approach before he reached the top of the hill. It looked like he had severe ground effects on landing, too much speed to touch down. That's one problem with low wing aircraft. It's feels like driving on black ice. they were pretty lucky.

Old adage, if in doubt go around, it's better to be Late Mr Airman, than the Late Mr Airman.

For an inexperienced pilot it looks like a steep approach which can throw people not used to it.

Big Ouch.............For a minute there I thought he was going to give it a miss and go round again, even when he had touched the ground it would have been better to gun it and go round again.
