It was found in Newfoundland, Canada. It measures about 27 inches tall and 22 diameter.

its a 3 prop.

Potentially from a hawker hurricane?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Looking quite modern so I doubt it could be the ww2 one. Judging by the prop slots it is for two-blade propeller only. It indicates a small or medium aircraft rather.

22 inches wide is huge! And I am pretty sure that Ham Standard only has made controllable pitch props, either ground adjustable or constant speed. So it was for a pretty big airplane with a pretty big engine, with a two blade prop. If not for it being a bit too pointed I was guess it was far a T-6, some of which used spinners, although I do not recall seeing one on a Canadian Harvard.

thanks your replies guys. I updated the original post a bit and Im pretty sure this is from a hawker hurricane.

If it would be from Hurricane there should have been three slots for the tree-blade prop. Looking at your pics I would say there are two holes for the prop blades only ( unless I'm wrong ) . The kind of the propeller was used for very early Hawker Hurricanes but the spinner and prop were of different shapes. And for sure these weren't by the Hamilton . All later Hurricanes had the three-blade props.

Here you are .. and a couple of more shots of the RCAF Hurricanes you may find on the site with the link below.

The OP was modified to say it's a 3 blade spinner. Canadian based Hurricanes used Ham Std. props and later ones were fitted with spinners though I don't know that HS produced them. If I recall, some RCAF Hurricanes were based at Torbay Nfld so it's plausible this is a Hurricane spinner.

I have some pics and will post later.

Canadian Home War Establishment (HWE) Hurricanes typically carried HS props and most often did not use spinners. However, some later examples did and here are a couple of pics:

I think these look a bit different from yours. The are more conical and straight sided than your bullet shaped example.

This like may be of interest as the spinners look like yours: https://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,371676.0.html

Not sure we can say they are Hurricane yet,

Yep.. the first post was edited. Initially there wasn't the info there. And the pics didn't show that correctly.

Looks to me like a more modern product and it bears striking similarity to the one below (Hamilton Standard as well!):

It looks modern to me as well. Without any numbers though, hard to tell.
These 2 photos show the most numbers:

I believe the part number is 465 (of the ring only). ASSY. is probably "assembly". The other number we can see is 88888 - twice: to the right and to the left (under the black mark) of the Hamilton Standard logo. There is a heart with the # 82 in it - probably the inspector's stamp - never seen it before. I can't see what is under the black mark, but it's some sort of number too.

Wow thank you very much for the info guys. Yes the only numbers on it are as shown in the pictures as far as I know.
I'm going to take some better pictures in a few days.
It does look very similar to the spinner in the pictures above, what AC is that?

I spoke to a man who sent me these pictures of an actual NOS spinner from a hurricane that looks quite similar and I know there was various spinners used on the hurricanes and similar ones used on other AC so I'm not really sure what to think now.

I'll keep digging!

Thanks guys!

Might be Yves. Just found this...ASN Aircraft accident Lockheed EC-121K Super Constellation 141329 Gander-RCAF Station, NL (YQX) Not saying that's the aircraft its from as the OPs looks pointier. but we know they landed in Newfoundland.

Geo, I'm far from saying that the spinner is from a Superconny. I've only shown the similarities. For sure there are a lot of other a/cs with spinners like the one, originally shown in the beginning of this thread.
