Bouzov Castle is a castle in Bouzov in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. It is located on a hill above the village of Bouzov, about 28 kilometres northwest of Olomouc. It was first mentioned in 1317.

Bouzov was established in the second half of the 14th century with the purpose to watch over the trade route from Olomouc to Loštice. It was first mentioned in 1317.

Maus Castle, which is actually called Thurnberg, was occasionally the favourite residence of the electors of Trier. Archbishop Balduin built the castle between 1353-1388 for the protection of his newly acquired territory. It was one of the most modern and technically most interesting constructions of its time. About 1370 the counts of Katzenelnbogen built the mighty stronghold Neu-Katzenelnbogen on the adjoining mountain.
Among the people the impression arose that the castles spied on themselves like cat and mouse. So both bastions got their nicknames, under which they are known until today. Mouse Castle opens its gates for visitors. Inside you can admire precious furniture and interesting collections.

Pidhirtsi Castle, one of the most interesting places is Pidhirsti castle. It's also known as one of the most haunted castles in Ukraine.
Tales surround a mysterious lady in white, whose spirit is said to still wander around the castle. It's believed the lady's name is Maria Zhevuska, the wife of Zhevuski Duke.
Apart from its ghostly history, the castle is massive and has been restored many times over the years. The castle was constructed around 1640 by a French-Polish architect in cooperation with an Italian architect. The Renaissance influence can be seen in the design of the round church in front of the castle. It's enriched by statues of saints carved out of local dark sandstone.
The castle was sieged several times over its lifetime and was even set ablaze. At the end of World War II, this region, previously part of Poland, was annexed to Ukraine and the castle became a tuberculosis sanitarium, until the fire nearly destroyed it in 1956. Today it belongs to Lviv Art Gallery and can be visited anytime, although it's still abandoned and in bad condition.

Hummelshain Castle.
It was built from 1880 in Wilhelmine historicism (neo-Gothic, neo-Renaissance).
In the opinion of its friends' association, the castle is in decline. There were only emergency safeguards after the castle was sold to a Leipzig company in 1998 by the Thuringian state development company. In 2016, the Friends' Association took the first security measures with monument funds from the Free State of Thuringia. In 2017 the castle was classified as a monument of national importance by the expert committee of the Federal Commissioner for Culture and the Media.

The castle of Montreuil-Bellay is a vast medieval construction, several times altered and stood in the heart of the ancient town closed in Montreuil-Bellay in the department of Maine-et-Loire. It is the Duke of Anjou, Foulque Nerra, who built the first citadel on an oppidum in the 11th century. He entrusted the guard to his vassal, Giraud Berlay, who became Giraud Bellay, the city taking the name of Montreuil-Bellay.

Stahleck Castle is a 12th-century fortified castle in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley at Bacharach in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

It stands on a crag approximately 160 metres above sea level on the left bank of the river at the mouth of the Steeg valley, approximately 50 kilometres south of Koblenz, and offers a commanding view of the Lorelei valley.

Its name means "impregnable castle on a crag", from the Middle High German words stahel. It has a water-filled partial moat, a rarity in Germany. Built on the orders of the Archbishop of Cologne, it was destroyed in the late 17th century but rebuilt in the 20th and is now a hostel.

Altena Castle is a medieval hill castle in the town of Altena in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The castle was erected by the early Counts of Berg in the early 12th century and had quite an ordinary history in the Middle Ages – it succumbed to a massive blaze, was restored, expanded etc. But in the 18th century Prussia laid its hands on it. And Prussians of course placed the military there – the castle became the barracks for a garrison. And then all of a sudden it lost its military significance – the castle was sold to local authorities who remodeled it into residences for the poor and workers. Besides, the complex also housed a court and a prison. In the 19th century the shabby castle got a kiss of life – its dented walls and dilapidated towers were restored while the premises were later used as a hospital and a youth hostel.
