Positioned strategically on a pass between the Mosor and Kozjak mountains, Klis Fortress played a crucial role in defending the frontier against various invasions, particularly during the Ottoman advance. Its location as a significant crossroad between the Mediterranean belt and the Balkan rear underscores its historical importance.
