I was reading Air Force Colors, Volume 1 by Dana Bell and it had a chart referring to the above subject.

The thing that surprised me was for the Propeller Blade:

"Flat Surface When Required - Maroon No 18" (FS 10076)

I have never seen Maroon propeller blades and always assumed they were black when dark.

Has anybody else ever heard of this?

You've just sent scores of modelers out to their LHS to purchase Maroon paint.

Only if they're going to model subjects from the early 1930's ...........

Just partially? If so, which part is going nuts and which part is still sane?
