Some data from MAW Vol 1 - Western Desert, June 1941
For the sake of readability here I'm only including shot down or crash / force landed aircraft, and 'confirmed' claims. Severely damaged aircraft, claims by Aces and other details or trivia will be included in comments after the stats. Also if anyone has suggestions on formatting to make this easier to read or follow please chime in. Not including losses to Flak except in notes if they seem like they might be relevant. Only recording days with significant air-to-air combat.

British were losing about 3 planes per Axis Kill.Summary with subtotals for June-September 1941
British Claims: 32+13+19+16=80
British Losses: 48+9+17+23=97
German Claims: 34+14+24+27=121
German Losses: 12+5+8+1=26
Italian Claims: 5+2+0+15=22
Italian Losses: 3+3+1+6=13
Total British Claims 80 vs. Total Axis Losses 39 (overclaiming ratio 2.05-1)
Total Axis Claims 141 vs total British Losses 95 (overclaiming ratio 1.47-1)
(Revised after corrections)
Ok I checked these and did the corrections for June. Let me know if you notice any for July, August and September. Once we are agreed on those, I'll go on to the next 4 months.
Italian
Units 372 Sq (MC 200), 353 Sq (G.50), 209 Sq (Ju 87R)
Claims -
Losses: - 1 x MC 200, 1 x G.50, 1 x Ju 87
Casualties: -1 x KiA, 1 x MiA, 1 x PoW
In this case the British seem to have confused kills of Italian fighters for Bf 109s.
29 July
The Italian fighters seem not to have been involved in the action with 2 SAAF Tomahawks; Shores' narrative puts their losses some 4-5 hours earlier, and the MC 200 pilot is listed as KIFA, not KIA.
18 August is missing in your post:
250 Sqd
Claims 0 (i.e. they do claim 1 probable and 1 damaged 109)
Losses 1 Tomahawk shotdown + 1 Tomahawk badly damaged and crashed on landing
2/ Jg27
Claims 1 P-40
Losses 0
5 September
272 Sqd Beaufighter lost to enemy action, there is no Axis claim for it so perhaps should not be included in an 'air combat claims to losses' comparison.
No other quibbles from me.
