    The web site devoted to the French aviation - men, machines, acomplishments. Don't be afraid of the French language, the pdf docs are OCR-friendly, so you can copy the text of interest and tranlate it in you (on-line mostly) translator.

    Also - don't be dissapointed when reading eg. that M-105 (Russian development of the HS-12Y) was regularly outfitted with two stage compressor ;)

    Sorry, why should I be disappointed reading that? Just curious.

    Thanks for the link: I knew it for my previous interest in WWI aviation. A lot of useful and interesting articles, someone also from human point of view. Like "Le moteurs Clerget", when telling the economic doom at the end of WWI and right after, caused by incredible political decisions:

    "En avril 1918, lors d’une réunion de travail avec le ministère, à la question de savoir si la guerre va encore durer longtemps, Clerget et Blin se voient répondre par Louis Loucheur: «Produisez, produisez, la guerre sera encore longue».
    Blin et Clerget qui sont à la tête d’une fortune qui se monte à plus de 100 millions de francs, réinvestissent immédiatement leurs ressources dans des machines outils achetées à prix d’or aux Etats-Unis, modernisant l’usine de Levallois... L’Armistice ruine ces projets.

    Ayant réinvesti la quasi-totalité de leurs revenus, n’ayant pas dissimulé de profits, la loi de finances frappe la société Clerget Blin et Cie de plein fouet, alors que d’autres, plus habiles à dissimuler leurs revenus, sont épargnés. Le fisc réclame en novembre 1920 à Clerget et à Blin plus de 500 millions de francs à payer dès l’exercice 1921.
    Hispano-Suiza, par exemple, considéré comme un constructeur étranger (son siège est à Barcelone, en Espagne), échappe à l’imposition. Certains industriels arrivent à se sauver en truquant leur comptabilité; Lorraine-Dietrich et Renault retournent à la production d’automobiles. Mais Clerget et Blin n’ont pas cette possibilité.

    Eugène Blin, le fidèle associé et commanditaire de Pierre Clerget, totalement ruiné, se suicide le 4 décembre 1920. Clerget doit licencier tous les ouvriers, mais cela ne suffit pas. Après la vente des locaux de Levallois à la firme Hotchkiss en septembre 1921, la société des moteurs Clerget-Blin est dissoute.

    Apart from token amount of 2-stage supercharged engines that were produced, the M-105 (later renamed VK-105) was 1-stage supercharged, and used as such in the usual Yaks, LaGGs and Pe-2 aircraft.

    Excellent find Tomo! Thanks, French aviation and their contributions seem to always take bit of a back seat and I admit a certain fondness for their designs. As a kid, I thought the SPAD XIII was the be all end all of biplanes, man what a looker.
