Went with the idea it is a replacement wing

Oh.. instead of painting over the roundel you could use a small rag soaked with warm water put on the decal markings for a while. These roundels would unstick themself unless you sealed them with a clear gloss

Masking tape works good as well, press it down over the decal and rip it off fast like a band aid. I know I use this method a lot being an expert at screwing up decals !

Yes that's way is a good too. But using the soaked with water cloth or sponge you may save the decal markings.

Usually by the time I get to " removal" it's because I've been poking and proding at it to the point of turning into several decals !

Ahhh no. Also the colours and proportions would be different for a WW2 rig. I sent him a set from my spares and they should arrive mid week.
