From this pile of rejects from the spares box I plan to build a what if/never was folding wing Sea Hurricane mkII I am not sure what colour scheme I will use I need to do some research first.

Drilled 2 0.35mm holes where the hinge points will be. Like a Fairey Fulmar wing the flaps will hinge up out of the way of the horizontal fold.

I need to keep the width down below 21feet so it will fit on the lifts of an Illustrious class carrier.

It's a bit of a squeeze but about the same width as a Fulmar

Blackburn who designed and built the folding wings went for a different construction method to Hawkers 😉

I have decided how the wings will fold and have checked the height and width. It will fit comfortably on a 45 X 22 foot lift and into a 14 foot high hangar. So it will work on all the Armoured Carriers even the lower hangar on the Implacable class.

must admit it looks pretty authentic

Thanks I had to go for a walk and work out how the folding mechanism would work in my head. It's a pivot point located inside the wing where the black dot is.

The wing would swing back flat and back like a car door hinge. Then the wing will pivot up around the hinge to lie flat vertical.
