Thank you I have improved but still a way to go. The probable next build will be a SM 79 tri-motor and I have been wracking my brain as to how will I do the splotchy Italian camo.

painted my Hellcat same colours, (although i use model colour from Vallejo ) last week.
To the naked eye they blend together as you say but stand out much more in photographs !

Yep, I've heard of that but I liked the control of a small area. I did this long ago before I became an AB user (abuser?).

Cotton buds work well.
Wipe off most of the paint, and then "twirl" the tip onto the surface in a circular motion.
The Bf109 below was done using this method some years ago - OK, it's 1/48th scale, but on a large 1/72nd scale, it should work fine.

Dohh your right. Oh well they are glued in with PVA so they should come out.

I have just found something in the bits box that might make some nice wingtip lights

Looks like that will work. If the model wasn't already painted, it's easy to make them from scratch using bits of clear sprue. After cutting a notch in the wing and cutting an oversize piece of clear sprue to fir the notch, glue the sprue in with CA and then shape it with files and wet/dry sandpaper to conform to the wing. Polish with very fine paper and brush a bit of gloss clear on it to finish it off.
