Cotton buds work well.
Wipe off most of the paint, and then "twirl" the tip onto the surface in a circular motion.
The Bf109 below was done using this method some years ago - OK, it's 1/48th scale, but on a large 1/72nd scale, it should work fine.

Looking good. But the colour lights at the leading edges... I would follow the white ones rather. Anyway.. :thumbright:
 
Looks like that will work. If the model wasn't already painted, it's easy to make them from scratch using bits of clear sprue. After cutting a notch in the wing and cutting an oversize piece of clear sprue to fir the notch, glue the sprue in with CA and then shape it with files and wet/dry sandpaper to conform to the wing. Polish with very fine paper and brush a bit of gloss clear on it to finish it off.
