It's possible that I have an answer regarding cockpit color of your 1d Tei model, Nick Millman said me that cockpit color is "3 hairanshoku blue-grey", it was the case for the Ki-21s, Ki-27s early production Ki-44s and Ki-61s. Your model as an 1d variant could have this "blue-grey" color for the cockpit.Here's what's in the box, I just started trimming parts off of the sprue tonight. Tamiya instructions say the cockpit is painted desert yellow, I will need to do some more research to see if that is correct.
Thanks but I'm thinking that only the early short nose version would have the blue gray cockpit. I just found another post by Nick Millman on Britmodeler where he thinks it should be the gray green color. Here's a photo of a wreck recovered in New Guinea.Very nice project Dave

Thanks Steph, I had seen that article before, but note it was for early production Ki-61 until early 1943. I also painted a Ki-27 cockpit this blue gray color.an article by N. MiIlman to summarize the colors and the periods
