Yep, the fastest fridges on the planet - no bloody good though as, once the door was opened, you couldn't catch the fridge !!

Fridge say you ? Full of warm beer ? Some pictures of my progress. I have to say for one of Airfix's new tooling kits It's a bit disappointing. I've built a few of their others and generally found them to be fantastic. This kit has a lot of fit issues and a lot of filing and parts clean up are needed to fit in place. The inlet and cockpit assembly is too wide for the fuselage to fit without massive gaps so I had to take the Dremel to it. Some gaps with other parts and in some places an injection pin has to be removed before it will fit. Small hassles to over come but a bit of a pain.

Slow progress but here we go. Ejection seat done. Added some masking tape belts and some PE hardware. A bit of touch up is needed still. The canopies I masked off the insides and painted them. It looked like I had a piece of hair stuck under the tape but it turns out it's a crack I didn't notice. I may have caused it myself while masking. At any rate I sent off to Airfix to see if I can get a replacement. Hopefully in time for the deadline. We'll see. On to the paint on the fuselage. The only all metal finish I have done was on an Aurora B 29 when I was a kid and used a spray can. New learning curve for me. Lots of vids to watch on Youtube.

Looking good Graham, and you should get a replacement canopy without problem from Airfix.
One minor point - the ejection seat on the Lightning was normally black (might be black, but looks grey on my laptop screen).
