Interesting thing about the Zero is that you could not take the wings off it as you would a P-40, P-47, etc. The wings held the fuselage together. I guess one reason it needed so much range was that you could not take the wings off, put it in a box and ship it in box by boat. I think there was a novel a while back where the Japanese sold the Luftwaffe some Zeros for use as escorts in the BoB; getting them from Japan to Germany would have been an Indiana Jones level of adventure.

With the A6M (and KI-43) having exceptional range, they could have been flown to Germany via Soviet held territory, since Germany and the Soviet Union were not at war during the BoB's timeframe.

Actually you can crate the A6M quite easily. The powerplant comes off leaving everything forward of the wing clear and the rear fuselage comes off at the back of the wing. The wing sits upright in the crate (just like the P-40 etc) with the powerplant, rear fuselage and all the tail components tucked into the spare space, just like the P-40 etc. Because of the folding wingtips the crate is shorter than a P-40 crate and about the same height and width. Been there done that.
