It was a huge problem and not just for the fighter bombers.
Short bombing by heavy and medium bombers also occurred. It was described as severely affecting morale and eroding confidence in the air force.
For example during the second phase of "Totalise" two formations of B-17s straddled Canadian and Polish troops who were in the open, ready to mount an attack, with nearly 1,000 90lb fragmentation bombs. When allied guns fired on the errant bombers troops on the ground cheered!

the Mk 103 was never used on the Fw 190 variants for operations due to vibration concerns when fired....

Oops...my bad, I thought the F-3/R1 or F-3/R3 series had Mk103 wing Rüstsätze!

I know the Mk108 was used on the A-8, replacing the 20mm for example.

yes 3cm replacing the outboard 2cm cannon on the A-7MK and A-8/A-9 variants. seems the 3cm Mk 103 was quite the butt kicker on the Hs 129. F model of the Fw inboard 2cm cannons and then a host of different rocket ideas.

Not very much, I believe operationally it used two basic types - a mine shell and a big-ass incendiary round..?

yes pretty much HE and HE/I very nasty on bombers as well as blue body Incendiary - night fighters all with the weird colored bands at the base of the round and right below the fuse. I've got a listing and colour chart of sorts. there were also
AP round(s) for ground attack work....
