Coming up on the 4th of July here in the states. It's a special time for us veterans. Here is my salute to all vets. These are all shots of my cold war days. I have more, when I find my scrap books, they are still packed!

Nope, but I do remember a few times when something was wrong, I could see the look of concern on the crew chiefs face and not wanting to know until we were safely on the ground. The worst one though was crossing the Med in a fierce storm. That airplane was pitching all over the place. I was the only one who didn't puke too. I was keeping a running tally while I munched on cookies. (I really was)

Bloody hell Evan swordfish and railways. I went past the Abbey ruin about 6 months ago when I had a weekend on a broads cruiser.
Nice pics I must go to Lakenheath at some time its only a 2 hour drive from me.
I didnt know you had a tash in 1984 Evan your step dad looks very young though. ;)

I have always been an old rail fan as well, Trackend, as have a lot of the guys that I volunteer with at the museum.

That Abbey and the church were from the Norfolk Broads tour. We got a special deal for it through the AF recreation center. I was one of those rare sunny days there, which was a bonus!

Yes, occasionally, I got to get up in the cockpit for long flights in the C-130, if the crew was cool. That's where I snapped the shot of the C-130 and the Swordfish. It was one of the rare times I was allowed to bring a camera for part of our op. It was a big mobilization, 3 C-130s. One of our "third herd" outings. That's the 3rd mobility group, of which I was temporarily assigned, but enough times it became my second home.

They put the C-130 in like that because the hangers weren't big enough, evan.
