Aircraft History:
Gladiator G-32 was one of seven Gloster Gladiator Mk Is assembled at Sabca, Belgium in March 1938.
On 10 May, 1940, it was flown to safety from Schaffen airfield just before the field was bombed. Surviving aircraft landed at Beauvechain.
On 11 May, 1940, G-32, piloted by Sgt Henri Winand, with five other Gladiators, was tasked with escorting Belgian Fairey Battles to attack the invading German forces. The Battles missed the rendezvous and the Gladiators were set upon by Bf 109s of I/JG 1. four Gladiators were shot down, but the Belgians claimed several damaged. Sgt Winand made it back to Beauvechain, but G-32 was destroyed on the ground the following day.
