I was just wasting some time with "StumbleUpon" this morning and this pic popped up. With the tip of a wing in the frame it looks like it was taken from an aircraft circling to perhaps land. I'm not savvy enough to discern if it may be 'shopped but the scale of the runway looks large enough for a medium sized plane to land. The near end looks a little odd.....

Anyhow; does anyone know if this is (was) a real landing strip and where it may be?

I don't know what constitutes a 'medium-sized plane' but that looks like a short strip with no room for mistakes at either end :)

No idea where it is but it definitely looks short. Very short. The kind of runway you make a couple of passes at before you get serious about landing.

I really, really, really hope they have a serious headwind when landing.

I'd say its real. Google the name and you'll get Worlds most dangerous airport, etc. etc/

    1300 ft long! That's it! That isn't a runway, it's a driveway! Oh, **** that, I'm going by water.

Nah man, too crazy even for me.

Damn, that is a pretty short and precarious place for an airport! Would be good fun to attempt a landing there though...

What's even worse is that there isn't a taxiway, so you'd have to back-taxi to get off the runway.

Thanks for all the info and comments about this tiny little airstrip. I guess my lack of RL experience in an aircraft came out rather quickly. ;)
    Thanks

Is it actually open? I see an "X" at one end at least, though it's a little small.
