The GB theme is Aces' Aircraft, all Eras and it starts Aug 1. Who's all in and what are you thinking?

I was hoping to build my Tamiya Mosquito FBVI in the markings of Russ Bannock, RCAF. There's a decal set by Aviaeology but they are no longer available and very hard to find. Failing that, I have the much-feared old Eduard FW190A-8 kit that offers a number of options, a Hasegawa Bf109K-4, and the maligned ProModeller Bf110G-4 which would take some fixing to make it look right.

I have so many options my head is spinning.....main ones...

German...'100' wreath birds Heinz Bar 109 or 190, Gordon Gollob 109 and Anton Hackl 109 or 190, Heinrich Erhler 109....
Japanese A6M5 of Iwamoto - Primary choice, Akamatsu or Tanimizu

So many German AC!!!!!!!!!!
Got one to build and one still trying to find a code to match serials for a Mk.1 Hurricane.

First is a 1/72nd Spit Mk. XIV of RAAF Gaze, first Aussie to shoot down a 262, 11 victory ace and Squadron leader. Was one of only 48 triple recipients of the DFC. Later became a race driver of note and started the Goodwood races
The 1/72nd 262 will be an along side build as another little dio.
Having decals printed as I type as both as they are not available.

I know I said never again for two in one GB, I am bringing up an old thread looking for details on Henry, but I am still trying to find a code for any of the serials I have for Henry Davidson, 249 Sqn Mk.I Hurri, 6 victory ace BoB who later went to the CAM project and did the first CAM launch.
He later died in a crash of a Boulton Paul spin in on landing.
I have from his log book at least 23 different serials of Hurricanes he flew with 249. You would think I could find One picture with one of these serials!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I think from his log book he listed 249 Sqn Codes, Y, V, O, and P, omitting the serials.

Wow........ thanks guys your efforts do not go unnoticed, getting closer now.
So CHEF, now we need to know what dates those serials/codes were in service?
By his log book it looks like he was using codes to ID his flights, rather than serials.
So it logs these flights 1940
"Y" Sept 1, 2, 3,
"V" Sept 1
"O" Sept 5, 8
"P" Sept 6, 7, 25, 26, 27

Bill.
quick look before i set off for work

it seems P3579 "Y" was still with 249 sqn and was destroyed in January 1941 so looks a good possibility.
Details of its destruction below

Battle of Britain London Monument - P/O W W McConnell
