It took a little while fo it to come in. the exhaust stacks came in from Canada and took a couple of week and I had to wait to order the Verlinden kit and I just received it yesterday. So here's a look. It doesn't look to much of an issue. It only displays for the starboard side with the port side being the kit. I also bought the Cutting Edge decal for the Do 335, this si prt one with them having 3 different sets.
As for fit issues I did some preliminary dry fit and it doesn't seem to look like much but more to come.
I've been looking at the Verlinden "Detail" set and I gotta say, I'm not that impressed. The Cyber Hobby (Dragon) Bf 110 gives you a set of engines and they are a pretty nice kit in and of themselves. I'm thinking I may try and use them instead. I'm not really sure I'll do the aft engine but I'll look at it. I'm not sure I would recommend the Verlinden kit to anyone really, IMHO, it just is not that crisp and delicate for a resin set. Aries has some but they are more expensive. I went off of Verlindens rep as I couldn't find much about the set before hand. I think the Cyber Hobby looks much better and besides I've got like seven left around.
Here is an update.
So I received my Kits World 3d Luftwaffe seatbelts.
and being that this is an ejection seat, I needed the short shoulder straps. The set gives you two sets of seatbelts and two short and two long shoulder harnesses.
The seatbelts I cut out and soak one at a time in water just a few seconds did the trick.
I had problems making everything work till I recalled for Quinta, you may need to use a little super glue! the problem was that the seatbelts did not want to make the corner over the lip of the seat. They would go in the seat and pop off the side or they would go on the side and poop off the seat. I did try MicroSol just as an attempt but no help. So I broke ou the 'ol super glue gel! worked like a charm. a dab on the seat side and a dab in the pan. Let the belts lay naturally.
The shoulder harnesses were a snap as the lay on a basic flat surface.
I worked os some internal painting over the last couple of days which has left me in a daze. I'm really depressed with this Tamiya kit. Ejector pin marks everywhere! much of which is in a NMF area. The Do 335 never made it past the testing phase and the paint shows that. Gear and weapons bay doors were NMF and much of the weapons bay itself was not painted. RLM 66 was used where RLM 02 would be used in some places. This is unlike Tamiya and I am a bit disappointed in their engineering of this kit.
I won't be using much of the aftermarket stuff I picked up. as mentioned before, I'm not happy with the Verlindand engine set, it at best seem half way done.
