Category : Advanced
Scale : 1/48
Manufacturer: Airfix kit #A05138
Model Type: P-51D Mustang
Aftermarket; Quickboost, Wheel doors, Exhausts, prop blades.

This is the Other Mustang I did some lettering on, changes and additions.
First photo I took when I was doing the brushwork. This was at Mike Bogues hangar at the Old Oakland Airport.
Mike had a Round engine rebuild shop in this hangar. He also owned a B-23 the Gen. Hap Arnold used as a staff plane.
I had been doing some signage at the air museum down the road and had already done Merlin's Magic.
Second photo, taken by the photographer noted on the pic as it was finished, and at Reno.
Third is the profile I have to match, not going to be easy. Fourth is a second Merlin for this plane as a back-up.
GB-64 starts!!!!!!!!! Added box photo.

Is it going to have my name on the gear door??
You'll need to explain that one. Were you crew for John at Oakland?

No gear door names. There had been commercially printed decals, but are unavailable any more.
So I have had my own art custom printed. Could not read the gear doors names.

Thanks guys.
One of the most important parts ............... clipped wings.
Commonly the first section of wing tip is removed, so it's done.
There is a fence replacing the factory tip, this one is pretty square.
It does extend slightly beyond the aileron, so I have done that as well.
I used a piece of rectangle styrene. Port side is shaped. Later Strbrd!

A bit under the weather today, up since 1.30am!
Back on the bench tho, filling the wings, using Perfect Plastic. Hate the stuff tho.
Second pic, filled and sanded and primed the right wing. Smoooooth!
Trailing edge of the wing at the fuselage has a strange fairing extension?
Cogitating how I am going to accomplish This one!!!!!!

Just looked at my first post pictures. If you look under the "6", you can see how that Fairing has bee added!!!
