The Jungles of Canada
One month away and as usual, time to start dithering. I have several pointy nose kits but most have fit issues and/or some shape problems. This is what I settled on but need to remove raised panel lines

Changed my mind Andy. A test fit of the fuselage was not promising. It can work but not for the first build. Going for the Voodoo

I'm dying to get one like this for my Vietnam War plane collection. I have some photos and have made decals of an RF101 used by the CIA from a secret base in Laos (it was secret in those days)... but finding this model at an affordable price here is almost impossible...

For this GB I have in mind a 1/48 Kikka from Jays Models Kits, bought in-house on a visit I made at the time, I hope I can repeat the trip, but I also have a Korean War F9F-8P, a Kodiak-based F89D, a Thailand-based F102A or an A10 Warthog from the Gulf War II, to choose from...

I've been quite frustrated at not being able to do any modelling lately. This is due to a few things, including lack of bench space due to stacking things around the house in order to make space whilst waiting for the new windows to be fitted (bad weather keeps delaying things !), but mainly because of arthritis flare-up, with very stiff and tender hands and wrists. On top of all that, I still have a vision problem (6th cranial nerve palsy) causing focusing and depth perception problems, and awaiting further treatment.
This has prevented me from continuing with the B-24 diorama project, and the second Andover build, both of which require fairly precise, fiddly scratch-building at their current stages, way beyond my present abilities.

Consequently, I've decided to "have a go" at the up-coming "No Props" GB and, hopefully, enter two models, to be built concurrently.
These will be a BAe/Sepecat Jaguar GR.1A and a GR.3 or GR3A, both in 1/48th scale, using the 1980 - released ESCI GR1 kit, and the Heller GR1/GR3 kit, first released by Airfix in 1994, both of which have been in my "stash" for a few years now.
Some "cross-kitting" between the two will be employed, along with some after-market parts and decals, bits and pieces scavenged from the spares boxes and a bit of scratch-building here and there.

Both kits have their good points, although perhaps a bit basic in some areas, compared to current standards, and obviously don't match the forthcoming "new tool" Jaguar kit from Airfix, but they should be fairly straightforward (I built the very basic ESCI kit back in about 1982), so I'm hoping that my hands, and eyes, will cope with the job. Of course, whether or not I make any decent progress is another matter, but we'll see.
I'll post details of the kits, accessories and required mods etc in the relevant build threads when the GB begins next weekend, but meanwhile here are pics of the box art for both kits.

Might be brave (or stupid?) again, and try to enter this build. A few options (gliders, jets and rockets) but as I'm making 2 TA-4J Skyhawks (OOB) for the kids at moment, might continue in theme and enter an RNZAF TA-4K in Golden Anniversary scheme, or A-4K in one of the camo schemes. We'll see.
