Time to get this thread opend up and running, while I have not had much forum time of late I have been pushing forward on the Fw190 theme at every opportunity…… with 4 Fw190's on the go, 2 x D-9, 1 x A-7 and 1 x A-6 all in 1/32.
So here is the First, Always wanted to do this Fw190D-9 aircraft but only had the RED 18 markings, so I asked Bill if he could assist and was able to set up the artwork and get the New Blue 18 markings done for me.
A Big thanks Bill.
This subject Fw190D-9 BLUE 18 W.Nr. 211115 Was found at Pilsen in the Czech Republic in May of 1945.
It initially was determined to be Black 18 based on photographic interpretation, then progressed to be Red 18 and finally as more information became available it was identified as BLUE 18 of the 4th Staffel of I/EKG(J) which was a training unit, tasked with converting ex-bomber pilots to single seat aircraft.
Blue 18 is currently the only confirmed D-9 assigned to the EKG(J) Group while there are a number of other FW190A series aircraft confirmed photographically, 12, 17, 19, 22 and 31 are known.
A select few Images of Blue 18 are presented here from Primary Sources below which I have them all…..
JaPo : Messerschmitt Bf109s & Other Aircraft of I./EKG(J)
JaPo : Focke Wulf Fw190D camouflage and Markings Volume 1
Eagle Editions : The Focke Wulf Fw190Dora Volume 2
