I finished the stencils and brushed on a couple of coats of Future to seal everything up. As far as the yellow 8, I knew it was not an exact match, but it was the closest thing I had in my decal stash. My hand is not steady enough to attempt to freehand paint out the lines so I'm leaving it as is.
After the Future set over-night, I went all out with a grunge coat of tempera paint as this bird looks very dirty.
The last picture is after a very long session of carefully wiping the tempera off with bits of damp paper towels until it looked like the picture in post #1.
