I have not updated anything here in a week because I slipped on some ice and ended up in the emergency room with messed up ribs on my left side. I was only able to get to my bench yesterday and painfully got some work done.
First picture is the finished engine which I managed to get mounted with a whole lot of trouble.
The cowling installed. This did not go too bad.
This last picture is how I'm going to deal with the cannon. I mounted a thin brass rod in place of the kit part that does not extend beyond the leading edge of the wing so it does not interfere with sanding the glue seam. When the painting is complete I will slip a brass tube over the brass rod.
Bummer about the slip, Glenn. I like how you pre-painted the black to ease masking. I finished two 190s over the last few months and it was a real pain in the keester to mask that area
Some good news, it looks like I will probably not need surgery. The surgan thinks it will heal on its own so we are giving it a chance and she will re-evaluate it in a month.
Thanks guys. I'll be taking it easy for a while, but should be able to get some kits built.
I managed to get the upper wings on after fighting the cannon covers.
The left side was the best fitting, but the door will still need some filing down on the fuselage. The joint on the wing is worse than it looks because I painted the underside black so nothing would show through the shell ejection port, but did it when the cover was only tacked in place and the paint blead through the seam.
The right side was a worse fit needing a lot of CA filler. Here I have started filing things down but still have some work to do.
