At first I thought this was a Hurricane, but the bubble canopy... which doesn't seem to go with the old type rearview mirror. is this a... P-47? Tempest? I'm confused...

BTW, the phot is of Maureen Dunlop (later Maureen Dunlop de Popp) who actually made the cover of Picture Post magazine in 1944 when pictured pushing her hair out of her face after she left the cockpit of a Fairey Barracuda aircraft.
