THE Governor of South Carolina fought back tears today while confessing that he spent the past week in Argentina with his mistress, following questions about his mysterious disappearance.

Appearing in public for the first time since he went missing on Thursday last week, Mr Sanford confirmed he had not been hiking along the Appalachian Trail as he had led his office staff to believe.

"The bottom line is this," Mr Sanford said. "I have been unfaithful to my wife. I developed a relationship, which started as a dear, dear friend from Argentina.

"It began very innocently as I suspect these things do, in just a casual email back and forth, in advice on one's life there, and advice here.

"But here recently over this last year it developed into something much more than that, and as a consequence I hurt her, I hurt you all, I hurt my wife, I hurt my boys, I hurt friends like Tom Davis, I hurt a lot of different folks."

The woman in question is known only as Maria

A good friend once told me every man needs a good wife, a mistress and a little something on the side, Like no other guy on this forum got tempted? Who knows what else is involved, maybe his wife is fridgid as a frozen board, I'm sure some will damn him, probably the same that said Clinton just erred. The price of being a public servant.

I wish more of our elected officials would "escape" to Argentina, or any other country for that matter and just stay there My appologies to the country they go to At the end of the day we most likely wouldn't miss them.

One of the people that works in the kitchen stated the wife is a spoiled brat and likes to throw things during temper tantrums.

Not justifying what he did, but I could understand it a little more.

We had a Gov. here in Jersey that had an affair - he just was , well....Sanford should have taken him with him to Argentina!

Hehe - I didn't hear the end of that one from everyone that knew I was from NJ for a week after it happened.

Does anyone else find it quite telling that the military is held to a higher standard via the UCMJ than the elected representatives that lead the country?

Ms. Rincón was quoted by the local press as saying that Clinton paid her $1000 dollars for just a few minutes.
