Most of what you hear about the Hawker Typhoon is typically accompanied by statements related to its tendency to shed tails, kill its pilots to carbon monoxide poisoning or catch on fire as the engine swallowed a cylinder head.
I was wondering if anyone had some losses rate statistics for the Typhoon (or even the Tempest), and also for the Spitfire/Hurricane or any other RAF fighter types. I'd be interested to see just what the progression was between the early tribulations and the later operating stats, when the RAF had about 30 squadrons on strength.
I know Bomber Command kept these statistics, as did the USAAF, but what about Fighter Command?
