It's (they are) Liberator I's or II's. Having to crane the neck to see the sideways photo is a bit difficult, but, when I have a bit more time, I should be able to narrow it down to one or two Squadrons - I hope.

Remember that the export B-24s (LB-30) had different nacelles than the American ones. The LB-30 had round nacelles, as opposed to the more oval shaped ones on the B-24.

Diamond Lil is an B-24A/LB-30B variant that was later the first one to be converted to a C-87 after a landing incident that left her damaged heavily. She was one of the first lot of Liberator I bombers on the way to England.

The U.S. used that "greenhouse" nose on the early types and if thier photo showed that, I would have known right off the bat instead of getting confused by the location of the turret!

By the way, here is the Halifax Mk.III...you can see why there was a little confusion :)

Just add this to mixing pot :)

If you need any close-ups, I'm going to be crewing one from next Thursday for three weeks...same offer for '17G and '51C shots as well as any others I may come across

Gary, if you remember my e-mail from a while back, could you try to get photos of the radio/flight engineer stations, and the bulkhead behind and below the upper escape hatch, particularly the placard? Cheers mate.
