Thank you friends! Today the primer work is done. I used the Vallejo surface primer black and then white.

Some accidental overspray on the oil radiator...:D

which will require some extra weathering. ;)

I also worked on the image of the number 92 for decals. I downloaded the illustration and vectorized it. Printed in .5 inch height which seems to be the exact size. I will print this on a white decal paper and try it that way. I hoping that it will work. If not, I will Begemot Yak-7 decals with some modification.

I tried printing a W.Nr on white paper with a camo colour background but it didn't turn out too well:

Thank you for sharing! I know. You are right. I agree that it is risky but I will try it because the numbers are big enough to carve them out and I also have a back up plan with the Bergamot decals for Yak-7 series (9s and 5s which require some modification).

Honestly, the extension helped a lot as I was able to spend more time with the family this Labor Day weekend. So, I was able to work on masking and painting the main colors of the aircraft. First I masked the entire bottom side of the model, then I sprayed the AMT-11 VLJ 71.304 in a mix (3:1 with AMT-7 VLJ 71.318). I came up with this mix because without it the color comes out darker. Instead of opening it up with washes and pastels, I use a lighter mix. I did some research and now I use Color Mixer app on my Android phone to come up with approximate Hex colors.

Then, I used some soft putty for masking to spray AMT-12 VLJ 71.308. I used a similar mix (4:1 with AMT-7 VLJ 71.318).

I still need to some touchups but overall colors turned out to be satisfactory. I will quickly attach the remaining small parts and start working on decals and weathering. Thank you you all, friends!
