Gotta hate it when you lose your wingman...

Great shots of the CAP...was it a standard mission or a custom one?

I'll toss up the only ones I've taken in a long time, had to run a few almost a week ago for a little stress relief.

This was a Smolensk mission of ours and my wingman and I got tangled up with some fighters while we were on our way to intercept a flight of bombers. The "Z" is not a dogfighter, but when you get seperated from your wingman and you have 5 angry Reds all over you, ya' gotta do whatcha gotta do. I brought all of 'em down but they got me as well...

Had to "crab" it pretty hard to see where I was landing, since my engine was fully involved and my windscreen was oiled up, but I got 'er down in one piece (relatively speaking with a long walk home)!

They look small (604x402) because I sized them when I posted 'em up at FaceBook...

It was in the stock campain generator. I enjoy flying the stock campain, as I havent really got into making my own. We were tasked with protecting a bridge, but 4 bombers got to it before we got there, but we made them pay for it, after that it was all out combat between us and a flight of LaGG's. I sent my 3rd Staffle to finish off the bombers, and we tangled with the fighters, I got wrapped up with the flight leader, and I managed to isolate him from his group, but by the time I finished him off, my wingman was already in trouble, but I couldnt save him. No chute was seen either.

Yea, and at the same time, I get real pissed off at anyone who kills my wingmen/schwarm and I pursue them with vengeance...
Same here...and if I see someone going after one of my guys who's shot up and trying to make it home or straffing them once on the ground, and the gloves are off and they become a personal project...

How about this.

Was on a mission to intercept some russian bombers that were going to pound our ground boys. Well, we didnt make it in time, and actually cought them landing. Well me and my flight tore into them, I knocked down 2 bombers. The escorts (P-40's) were also set up for landing, and after we finished off the bombers, we turned to the fighters. Well, Number 3 and 4 of my flight I sent home, and me and the wingman, were waiting for their Number 2 guy to quit circling his base (trying us the ack to help him). Well, I noticed a C-47 (this is where I should have gone home) sitting all nice and pretty, so I dropped low and fast on the deck and I took out the C-47 (loosing the left Aileron in the process). The ack got my wingman's motor, and he bailed. Well, I tried to get back to the front lines, and I look behind me and what do I see, that cocky POS P-40 that wouldnt fight(cause he was in the ack hiding) running me down. I really couldnt do much about it, and he got me before I got to the front lines. That P#$@# me off lol.

Are you serious? Hiding under the flak umbrella until they see someone's back...than attack?

The moment that I would have spotted that wuss coming at me, I'd have come about to make a stand...regardless of how much my crate was missing.

A classic example would be the mission where we were escorting Ju52s with much needed supplies to a foreward base, and got bounced twice during the cruise by a sky full of Soviets. Lost all of my Schwarme, wingman and all as well as a large share of the other escorts, but I hung in there.

On the final leg, two Reds appeared and as badly shot up as I was, faced off with 'em and roughed 'em up before a couple other '109s got in there and took 'em out. It took some doing, but I was able to get formed up again, and made it to our destination...although my crate was many pounds lighter for some reason, and didn't seem to be handling as well as it was when we started out! :evil4:

Best part is, I didn't lose a single transport. :thumbleft:

 You manage to land that thing with the elevators and ailerons damaged? Dang, once I had to get myself into trouble slipping the rudder and lowering the flaps just to keep a P-47 up in the air until I could bail out over friendly territory.

Yeah, that little SOB was just hiding in it, And I was temped a couple of times to dive in and take him out, but I decided against it ( wish I did now). I have never seen a AI aircraft do that but I have seen alot of people do it online. I am heavly modded by the way, but still never seen a AI do that.

Sounds like a heck of a brawl!

The no chute part always bums me out...I know it's just a sim, but still...I hate that.

Yeah, Its pretty crazy, I feel the same way sometimes.

I found the list for the pilots names in DGen.
I added my name to the list but I removed it after seeing "my name" next to different pilots that had been killed.
I even removed the names of my friends that I had added.
It gave me the willies.

Oh yeah, that would creep me out, too!

I'm pretty well known for being able to bring 'em back no matter how bad they are. Occasionally I have to get near the base and bail out because they just aren't able to land, but at least I get back. One mission we flew, I lost the larger portion of my starboard wing from flak. I was able to get it under control and RedBeard and Lawndart formed up on me for cover and we flew back to base...with my Fw190 standing almost up on it's port wing...and I had to bail out of that one since there was no way I was going to land it...

We make jokes about my crewchief being stressed all the time because I bring my crates home in horrible condition. If it were the real deal, I'm pretty sure he'd be a basket case by now! :evil4:

I'll post a good example of how I bring 'em home sometimes...usually they aren't as spectacular as this, but this does give a pretty good idea of what I'm talking about!

I thought about getting it off the runway so it wouldn't block the other aircraft coming in to land but as bad as she was burning, I decided to get out while we could!

Damn Dave, I don't know what all the fuss is about. You still had BOTH wings and you weren't on fire. I've seen you land a crate with one wing, on fire and looking like a cheese grater. It wasn't pretty but you got it down and RAN away.......
