When I was a wee lad in North Carolina I saw those flying around the country side. They would drop down low and buzz the house because I would run out and wave at them as soon as I heard the planes flying near by. We lived in the country between Winterville and Ayden.

WWII Martin BTM-1 in flight. It is dated in the lower right corner with a date of 1-17-45. The BTM-1 was a carrier based torpedo bombers. Throughout the WW II the US Navy used a variety of carrier-based aircraft for attack duties.
