That's quite nice. Do you know if it's a conversion Wayne? It's just that the fin looks a bit 'straight' and the elevators are the early type - should be 'stepped' by the time of the XIVe. And it's got a 'C' wing.....or is it the old 'Frog' kit?

No I don't know if it's a conversion, Terry. The kit is an Academy kit.

next up is a Fw190A-6...

Nice FW, and thanks for the info re the Spit, Wayne.
Vic, I agree, it is indeed a nice model of the Spit, and the modeller has done an excellent job. It's just that the fin didn't look quite right, which could be the angle of the photo, and the elevators on this particular machine should be the later, stepped type, as fitted to the MkIX. The wing is definitely the 'C' wing, not the 'E', but this is the fault of the kit, NOT the modeller, who might not have known. The Academy 1/48th scale Spit MkXIV (high back version) is disappointingly inaccurate, which shows, mainly around the fuselage behind the cockpit, the bottom curve of the fin, and the general shape of the nose - unusual for this company. I'm not sure about the 1/72nd scale version, but it's probably a scaled-up version (or vice versa), with the same faults.
Unfortunately, this type of error, often unknown to the modeller, can possibly affect the placings in competitions.

Love the Spit and the Wulf! 8)

You are right Terry, it shouldn't affect a placing but it does in some cases. Judges are not suppose to use their knowledge of a particular subject for better or worse in judging any category of models, if they are good at their jobs and well trained they should be looking at the basic techniques of construction and painting/finish, realism and accuracy to instructions and basic reference. The skill of the competitor is what is being assessed in the finished product in an attempt to create a level playing field or measuring stick in the competition arena, otherwise TOO many things come into play and complicate the whole process, I'm sure you understand what I mean....:D

Oh and another model...
