Messerschmitt Bf 110 E-1 Pajala, Haparanda Sweden....

Jagdgeshwader 1.(Z)/I./JG 77 WNr.4113 LN+KR 01.09 1941

The Kette (four planes) got lost due to bad weather in northern Sweden after returning from a mission in Russia. Two of the Messerschmitt's had to make forced landings there. The aircraft overturned in the rough landing. Uffz. Rudolf Reitz. Uffz. Guntram were interned by the Swedes.

The other Bf 110 (LN+FR WNr.4114) made a forced landing near by at Tärendö. Lt. Felix Brandis and Fw.Albert Harnack were interned.
On 7th. September both crews were returned to the Germans. Both aircraft's were also returned later on in September.

Can anyone tell me if the 'K' was outlined in any particular staffel colour, or if the whole code was in black?
It looks like it's outlined in the top pic.....but not in lower ones.

I'd say it was outlined. Pictures of other aircraft from the same unit also seem to have the individual aircraft letter outlined.

Here are two shots more taken at the forced landing area.
