Mid-Atlantic Air Museum World War II Weekend

Went to WW II Weekend at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum Saturday. Didn't have my sidekicks from last year, Charles and Njaco , at least it was a lot cooler (75F, as compared to last years 96F), but a lot more crowded.

First up are the B-17 pics. I'll get more shots up a little later.

Enjoy them, but remember, I'm not nearly on the same level as Eric as a picture taker.

F4U Corsair

The older gentleman sitting in the F4U in the striped shirt is a WW II veteran Corsair pilot. It was a thrill for him, his family, the owner of the Corsair and all of us watching. You should have seen the expression on his face when he was invited to sit in that bird!

Wow, great shots of the Corsair. Do you know anything else about the guy in stripes?

Thanks viking. No, unfortunately we didn't get a chance to speak, but it was the coolest part of the day for me, seeing what it meant for him to sit in that cockpit.

There were a surprising number of vets there which was good, but as we all know, their numbers are dwindling at a rapid rate, and that's sad.

I was thinking about you this weekend, TO and the show. I was gonna try to make it but work was brutal this weekend and my off time was zzzzzzzzzz! Shots look good. I'm guessing this is Sat morn before the sun came out?

Right Chris. Almost thought it was gonna rain for a minute. But it cleared up and the day got sunny.

Wish I was there. I wanted to really go thorugh the swap meet section than we did last time. Maybe next year. Or this year at Mcguire when they have it.

You got some great pics, TO!

At first glance, I thought that B-17 was Aluminum Overcast, but looking closer I see it's Yankee Lady

And the story about the Corsair driver...now that's great to see!

Thanks for posting the photos!

Was unable to go due to surgery recovery, saw on their website a Helldiver was excpected to attend and never saw a flying example.

Few years ago 3 B-17s showd, a major moment for me as it's my favorite plane.
