I was just a couple of years ahead of you (at least we got our picture in front of the Phantom!) On the down side, I was there late July through early Sept. Damn it was hot!

Then onto the armpit of the country.... Sheppard AFB for Crew Chief training.

I go a couple of pics in front of the Thud at the 301st, and also in my firetruck at work, but those, along with many family pics burned up in a storage fire many years ago.

Me in 1969, 8th ID, 1st Brigade (ABN). Who let 14-year-olds join the Regular Army? I didn't even need to shave!

A few more in uniform ranging from 1968 to 1971 on Active Duty, then after a break in Service back to my hometown Georgia Army National Guard Heavy Weapons Anti-Armor Unit, HHD 1/122nd Inf Bn (TLAT) Tube Launched Anti-Tank, (TOW) Tube launched, Optically tracked, Wire guided. A wicked little missile. I was AGR - Active Guard Reserve then. Now Retired, also the 1/122nd Inf has been "Retired" and adsorbed by Georgia's 48th Infantry Brigade.
My personal photos. From the Pickle Suit and Steel Pot to BDU Woodland Camo and Kevlar. I'm holding the Pig in the group photo. MOUT - MIlitary Ops in Urban Terrain is now called something else....
