Weird that it looks orangy once applied..but again..might have to do with the green bachground..
Without paying attention to the mess ( used the old mask..that is a no no..)...the color shows better on the alu background, ergo..first alclad, then the red on the model...

Vaughan, I ordered a compass cutter from 'The Works' a couple of months back, at just under £5, plus postage, but they were out of stock. Got one from my local model shop, less than 1/2 a mile away, for £4.50 !!
I left the hinomaru a little transparent, I was affraid that more paint and the pressure of the brush would cause bleeding...the hinomaru will have the same wear treatment as the aircraft anyway..
