The President Reagan Information Page:Biography
1946-1948 Reagan becomes President of the Screen Actor's Guild. He guides the Guild through a difficult strike period which was intermixed by a hunt for Communists in Hollywood. As later information would reveal, the Communist Party, USA was behind the strikes, and was acting on orders from their counterparts in the Soviet Union.

Hollywood was dominated by communists from the mid 1930s to the late 1940s. WWII would have been a dangerous time for anti-communists (Fascist, NAZI etc.) to live in that region.

In modern usage the words facist and nazi have become erroneously interchangeable. Not all anti-communists are facists!(or nazis)

There apparently is something similar in NOrthern New Jersey. Saw a docu on it but nothing more.

Reads a little like an April fool's story, but I can believe it.
On the other side of the Atlantic the IRA were helping implant german spies into Britain (according to Anthony Cave Brown's 'Bodyguard of lies')

I agree. However all fascists / nazis were anti-communist. This was widely understood during the 1920s to 1940s but has since become obscured.

Anyway....
A fascist living in WWII Hollywood would be in constant danger of discovery by the numerous communists operating openly in that region. If not lynched by communists they would be turned over to a sympathetic (to communists) American Government for prosecution. Under such circumstances it would have been impossible for an organized anti-communist movement to gain traction in the USA. Not even members of Congress who opposed communism were immune to harassment. President FDR went out of his way to discredit Congressman Martin Dies when his investigation started discovering Soviet agents operating in the USA.

And the Irish government was telling London who they were whenever it could.

Well all tennis balls are round, but not all round things are tennis balls :)

During the war fighting facism and nazism were a priority, having left wing or even communist sympathies could in certain examples be an advantage. It is no accident that this was precisely when the British Intelligence Agencies and Foreign Office recruited a clique of pro-Soviet staff, only to come unstuck when the Soviet Union became the new enemy rather than a war time ally.
Burgess,Maclean,Philby,Blunt and probably others we'll not be told about for 125 years!
Cheers
