Warning, does only work on unmodded 4.09 installs. And as always, make a backup of your installation.
 
A most excellent early, Christmas present! Its amazing how this flight-sim just keeps giving after all these years!
Just a note; if you download from Mission4Today (registered users only) there are BitTorrent links in the Downloads section for the 4.10 patch and this would likely be a quicker way to obtain (and share) this boost from the Team Daidalos!

Yep, you can patch v4.10m over a stock (un-modified) version of v4.09m.
Make sure you add the v4.09m skins patch before you update to v4.10m or it could mess up your install if you try to add them later.

The installation defaults to C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946

IL-2 Sturmovik 1946: Patching Order:
Download and patch in the following order.

CD/DVD Rom: v4.07m
Patch 1: 4.08m Official Patch - (If your version is 4.08m continue to the next patch.)
Patch 2: 4.09m Official Patch - (If your version is 4.09m continue to the next patch.)
Patch 3: 4.09m Skins Pack Official Release - (Optional Skins Patch If you want the new skin pack make sure to install before continuing to the next patch.)
Patch 4: 4.10m Official Patch
Once the patches above have been installed your installation is current.

It will mess with your mods if you are using UP2.01 or HSFX but they are working on a fix

If using UP2.01 you can update via JSGME, run the 4.10 on its own , worked for me
