IJA and IJN seize small islands of Philippine surrounding Luzon by May 1942 to complete the campaign.



Joint U.S.-Filipino Army burns military facilities of Cebu Island to retreat in early April, 1942. Seized by April 21.


Panay, Mindanao, Palawan and Negros islands in May.

On January 4, 1942, IJN 4th fleet and 1st aviation fleet began to attack Bismarck-Archipel. On 23rd, IJA Nankai (south sea) detachment based on 55th division and IJN landing force occupied Rabaul. This was called Operation R.
