They actually sent them to attack Oro Bay, New Guinea. It didn't go well.

I don't remember a seeing a picture of so many Vals in one place, on the ground, including some flight decks.
Good catch on the fuel tanks. I missed it completely.

They were really serious about the Guadalcanal situation. What's sad is how they thought the small payload the Aichi could carry could cause the damage needed to sink anything. Allied airpower was unstoppable. They really thought they had a chance.
