And on Makin Island, the Army Air Force also had P-39's, some of which were painted pink. Alas, none of the pilots seem to have resembled Barbie.

Apparently they were very concerned about the Japanese spotting activity on Makin Island and coral pink was the best camo color for that airfield.

I think the A-24's were most effective in Puerto Rico where they were used as target tugs. The Free French AF also was equipped with captured Ju-88 to attack German holdouts in France.
